Read on to learn my 8 sure to please ways to green your Valentine’s Day and celebrate the one you love.
#1: Organic Dinner for Two
Instead of making reservations at a traditional restaurant, surprise your sweetie by cooking an organic dinner for two at home. What could be more romantic than someone preparing a home cooked meal with your sweetheart in mind? You can prepare his or her favorite vegetarian meal, paired with a delicious, organic wine. Set the mood with a little music and candlelight by soy candles, and you have a meal with little impact on the environment, but a huge impact on your special love.
#2: Surprise Her with Organic Flowers
Who doesn’t love to be surprised and celebrated with flowers? However, when you consider that most cut flowers are imported from very long distances, halfway around the world, it leaves little to be desired. Not to mention, that these flowers are grown using a toxic cocktail of pesticides and grown in areas where forests have been clear cut to do so. Instead of picking up a boutique at your grocery or florist, hit your local farmer’s market and pick up a bunch of fair trade flowers grown by organic farmers in your area. If you don’t have a local farmer’s market that is available during February. Surprise her with a flowering organic plant that she can enjoy for years to come.
